Serve Ethiopians Washington (SEW) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit established during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic for the specific and primary purpose of reducing the negative health, social, and economic impacts of COVID-19 on Ethiopian and other East African refugee and immigrant communities in King County.

In response to the changing needs in our communities following the lessening impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have broadened the scope of our programs to encompass a range of community needs. We recognize the importance of addressing these pressing issues to foster holistic well-being and resilience among individuals and families. Our programs now include the following key areas: Basic Needs Resources for Children and Families, Youth Development, Workforce Development, Environmental Protection and Sustainability, and Social Programs for Seniors.

Our mission is to serve and empower Ethiopian and East African immigrant and refugee communities in King County. We strive to provide comprehensive support, resources, and opportunities that foster their integration, well-being, and self-sufficiency irrespective of political ideology, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Through culturally sensitive programs and services, we aim to address their unique needs, promote social inclusion, and advocate for their rights. Our commitment is to build a resilient and thriving community where every individual can fulfill their potential and contribute to the diverse fabric of our society.

SEW envisages a strong vibrant Ethiopian and East African community that will be an
integral part of the increasingly diversified American society.
